The Rutland Veterinary Clinic and Surgical Center is a full service small animal veterinary medical and surgical facility dedicated to providing the best quality of care possible for the animals we treat. Our team of veterinarians and support staff is both highly qualified and passionate about their work. To assure the staff has the knowledge and skill to provide excellent care, our unique team training program includes numerous quarterly lectures, webinars, self study and team building programs, in addition to regular team meetings.  We pride ourselves in offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment options and are committed to the welfare of the animals we serve.  We believe that by educating our clients we can create informed pet owners, resulting in happier and healthier animals.

  • Robert Macpherson , DVM

    Robert Macpherson , DVM

    Dr. Macpherson loves his job and feels that the greatest reward of being a veterinarian is seeing the joy on pet owner’s faces when a critically ill pet has become well enough to go home. He is the current owner of the Rutland Veterinary Clinic and Surgical Center where he has worked since 1999.  He graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1992.  He has completed numerous continuing education courses, including a three month surgery fellowship at the Florida Veterinary College.  Dr. Macpherson has a particular interest in surgery focusing on cranial cruciate ligament repair, knee cap luxation repair and fractures.

    In addition to his wife and three children, Dr. Macpherson’s family includes one cat, two rats and two French bulldogs.  In his spare time, Dr. Macpherson enjoys skiing, biking, camping and watching his kids play sports.

  • Robin Crossman , DVM

    Robin Crossman , DVM

    Dr. Crossman has worked at the Rutland Veterinary Clinic for the past 17 years.  After completing his undergraduate education at the University of Vermont, he attended Cornell University for Veterinary Medicine followed by an externship in Hawaii.  Dr. Crossman’s areas of special interest include the use of stem cells for regenerative medicine.  He enjoys the challenges of veterinary medicine and the variety of patients that each day brings.

    In addition to his wife and six children, the Crossman household includes a chocolate lab, two cats and a cockatiel named Frankie.  In his spare time, Dr. Crossman enjoys competing in Ironman triathlons (He has completed five to date.) and extreme racing (Spartan Death Race).  He also enjoys geocaching (using multimillion dollar satellites to find trinkets).

  • Heidi Homuth

    Heidi Homuth

    Dr. Heidi Homuth is a graduate of Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and has an undergraduate degree from Tufts University.  After practicing in Colorado for four years, Dr. Homuth returned east to practice in Burlington for a year.  She then completed an internship in New Jersey where she had the opportunity to work with board certified practitioners from a  variety of specialties including surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, neurology and oncology.  Following her time in New Jersey, Dr. Homuth joined the Rutland Veterinary Clinic in September 2007.  She enjoys working with pet owners to improve their understanding of how to keep their pets healthy and happy (and, of course, she likes working with the animals too).

    Dr. Homuth enjoys playing ultimate Frisbee, skiing and finding good trails to explore.  The Homuth home includes a 2-year old cat named Weezie, Heidi's husband, Brian, and their new baby girl, Eloise.

  • Patricia Hannegan

    Patricia Hannegan

    Dr. Patricia Hannegan has worked at the Rutland Veterinary Clinic nearly since she graduated from Ohio State University Veterinary School in 1980.  She spent just over one year at the Millis Animal Hospital in Massachusetts before joining Rutland Veterinary Clinic in January 1982.  Dr. Hannegan enjoys helping her clients keep their canine and feline family members healthy as well as the variety and challenge of practicing veterinary medicine.

    Dr. Hannegan has four cats and two pointers, Chance and Jeff.  She adopted Chance through the Rutland County Humane Society.  Jeff (a.k.a. ch. Black Alder’s Thomas Jefferson) is a show and therapy dog who visits residential and daycare facilities for elders.    Dr. Hannegan enjoys hiking in the woods with both of her dogs, reading, cooking and baking in her free time.

  • Lisa Geovjian

    Lisa Geovjian

    Dr. Lisa Geovjian graduated from Michigan State University in 1975 and has been at the RVCSC ever since, except for a brief stint in a mixed animal practice in Michigan.  She bought the practice from Dr. Donald Icken about 20 years ago and sold it to Dr. Macpherson in January 2009.  Lisa is married to Dick Crowley and they have two grown children, Ben, 27, who works at the veterinary clinic, and Shawn, 26, who is currently in law school.  She and Dick (and her horses, dogs and cats) spend winters in Florida and summers in Vermont where she is happy to work part-time with and for her old colleagues and friends.
